My name is Christina Prochazka. I am the face behind the camera, behind chrisp pictures.
We all know a photographer’s job is to freeze a moment in time. The difference is, I like to do it when you least expect it. My greatest joy is capturing your purest emotions; unrehearsed and natural.
For me, timing is everything. What good is a memory if you can’t record the feelings that came with it; a bride’s nervous grin, the sun’s warmth, a child gleaming with pride. It’s times like these I’m thankful for the gift I have and feel lucky to provide you with memories for life.
I take pride in providing you with memorable quality and believe all photographs, whether they be of weddings, portraits or commercial have a story to tell and a purpose of inspiring others. I like to experiment with capturing what is real in people and places. I wouldn’t be doing anything else. It’s hard to believe that I was not always interested in photography. Not until I realised its potential.
I started my Photography Cadetship with the Shepparton News. In three years I managed to take home Cadet of the Year and Best News Photo. Who would have thought? Craving creativity, I moved into the publishing division where I was the Chief Photographer for various lifestyle magazines.
A seachange brought me to South Gippsland in 2009 where chrisp pictures really started to take shape. I have my talented, little helpers who support me and offer their help when needed - you may spot them with me at any shoot... I've also worked for Coast Magazine. You can check out some of my work for the magazine here www.coastmagazine.net
I'm a bit of a dreamer. My absolute favourite colour is olive green and I love the smell of the ocean and the feel of sand between my toes. Second hand stores & vintage objects fascinate me. I have a collection of old cameras & vases. I try to be eco friendly & my weakness is dark chocolate.
I enjoy yoga, being outdoors & walking my dogs. I often relate myself to a lizard - I like to lay in the sunshine & absorb its warmth. I don't like rude or intrusive people, I like my own space but I enjoy a warm hug when I say hello or goodbye.
I like to live everday as if it was my last. I love to tell those who mean most to me that I love them every moment I can. My past experiences have taught me life is too short & fragile to let those moments pass you by.
Good Aussie music gets me through my working hours, and when I'm done I like to experiment in the kitchen & have a cup of tea with honey.
Last, but not least I love my husband Ben. He is my rock, my one true love, my best friend & my business partner! He has always supported me with everything I have done. He lends his hand at most weddings I photograph - and he's actually pretty handy with the camera too. He has a strong interest in my passion & he enjoys learning how to freeze a moment - and I enjoy teaching him too. If it wasn't for Ben, I wouldn't be where I am today.
One last thing; don't forget to stop and smell the roses, breathe in the fresh air and most importantly - smile.
